What Is JUE | Music + Art?
JUE | Music + Art《觉》音乐＋艺术节 is an annual urban festival that embraces the whole of Beijing and Shanghai. Celebrating its 6th year in 2014, JUE is all about showcasing the best of the local creative communities in these two great cities, as well as inviting artists from around the world to share their talent with China. We’re all about community; doing everything we can to set an intimate vibe, and to carefully weave every one of our artists and events into a multidisciplinary masterpiece.

JUE 2014 Mixtape
Following the news of our Pre-JUE February show featuring The Lumineers, for our first big announcement we stay true to our colours: JUE is about unearthing the best underground talent we can lay our ears on. Rather than dive in with big names, we’re gonna set the vibe straight – that way you’ll have more than one surprise to look forward to after the Xmas holidays!

We’ve locked down acts from three continents who will perform music across genres as divergent as punk-rock, psychedelia, hip-hop, electronic, garage rock, and other genres so unique they sound like garbled words. JUE Art Highlights
JUE’s events span across seven creative disciplines, each of which is propped up by our amazingly supportive partners. Here’s a preview of what to expect from the other six event categories:
JUE Film
After a very successful inaugural year we are bringing back Asian Cinema Week. Look out for inspiring new films from the budding film industries of far-flung territories including Myanmar, Nepal and hopefully even North Korea…
JUE Literary Events
Get your specs out, because we’re renewing our strong relationships with the Bookworm International Literary Festival and Australian Writers’ Week. We have festival favourites including the heated Translation Slam and Poetry Slam, and appearances from cool characters including JUE veteran Jenevieve Chang.
JUE Art
This year we’re recreating our JUE NEXT GEN platform as an open forum, where China’s youth (and their expat pals) can enjoin in a visual dialogue with the festival.
JUE Community
Our Live Photography Workshop will be launched in both cities this year, giving music fanatics the chance to learn how to take amazing snaps of live shows.
JUE Performance
This year we have a dance workshop by new kids on the block Groove Entertainment – they’re experts in dance performance and will help to get Shanghai’s city-dwellers jigging. Also look out for Balance Art, an organisation that operates a collection of integrated centers for a variety of stage-based and visual art forms
JUE Talks
We have collaborations in Beijing with World Culture Open (WCO), a non-profit organisation promoting cultural exchange, sharing and support. There are two components including C!Talk, and the C!Here art crawl – a tour of some of Beijing’s free urban spaces.
Old Favourites
Having been around for five years now, we know what you fancy. You didn’t think we’d forget about our warm-up to JUE Market did you? Nooo…How could we? This year’s market will be held in an inspiring space in Beijing that we’ve never used before…

Shanghai’s China Youth Day – a series of discussions between leaders in the creative fields and the next generation of thought leaders and creative entrepreneurs.
Oh! Another special something for this year will be a unique beer we’ll be serving up as part of a collaboration between Jing A Brewing Co. and Jellymon / Re-Up!
JUE submissions
Back in November we hollered at creative communities across the two cities to send in their JUE submissions. This year was special: we had bursaries up for grabs, which included money and promotional assistance. Well, we’ve confirmed our shortlist of candidates. Look out for our official announcement…

什么是《觉》？
《觉》音乐＋艺术节是由Split Works发起并制作，每年在上海、北京双城齐发的年度音乐＋艺术巨献。2014年即将六岁的《觉》，一直致力于彰显这两座城市中最了不起的本土创意团体，以及来自于世界各地的优秀艺术家和他们无与伦比的作品。最难能可贵的是《觉》是一个注重“圈子”的平台，每年都会有风格各异的音乐人和艺术家加入到《觉》的大家庭，而《觉》就如同调和剂一般把不同的色彩搅拌均匀，使城市、音乐、艺术还有身在其中的人们之都能够融为一体，在不知不“觉”中编织属于自己的艺术篇章。
2014年《觉》活动将被划分为七个类别：《觉》音乐／《觉》艺术／《觉》电影／《觉》文学／《觉》表演艺术／《觉》演讲／《觉》圈子 。

《觉》音乐＋艺术节2014，首轮参演的音乐阵容将由以下音乐人组成。横跨欧美亚，从噪音到电子，2014《觉》的首批阵容就足以让人目不暇接，不过这仅仅使开始… 我们将陆续放出更完整的名单，敬请期待！

《觉》艺术类合作伙
当然除了音乐之外，《觉》每年带来的其他六项艺术类活动也同样是重头戏。在这里《觉》也需要多谢多年来一直在艺术方面支持帮助我们的合作伙伴。以下是我们2014年即将为大家带来的艺术大餐！
继2013年亚洲电影周的成功之后，2014年《觉》将继续展现来自缅甸、尼泊尔甚至朝鲜等，尚未受到电影界瞩目，但却拥有绝佳电影题材的区域的作品。
我们将继续和“老书虫国际文学艺术节”以及“澳大利亚文学周”合作。去年备受欢迎的“翻译大比拼”以及“诗歌大比拼”都将回归并届时会有界内重磅人物参与其中。
2014年的“《觉》新的一代”摄影大赛将会以全新的形式展现！以摄影艺术来告诉我们你对《觉》的看法，将照片上传至Instagram并加入话题#JUENextGen2014你的作品就有机会赢得大奖！
不要让你的单反在家里积灰了！《觉》“现场摄影教室”2014年将在上海、北京两地开课。届时，《觉》会邀请专业现场摄影师进行教学，教大家怎样记录最珍贵的音乐现场片段。参演各类《觉》活动的音乐人以及艺术家也会积极参与到“圈子”活动中，届时不要错过和大师零距离接触的机会哦！
由Groove Entertainment带来的全新的“《觉》舞蹈教室”将在上海开课；在北京，《觉》将携手均然艺术也将为大家呈献精彩的舞台艺术节目，请不要错过！
World Culture Open（WCO）是一个无盈利性质的文化交流组织，2014《觉》将与之为大家带来极具趣味的互动演讲C!Talk，以及C!Here艺术街区特别之旅。
作为一个开源平台，《觉》每年都会吸纳许多新的创意。当然这一切都来自于各个活动组织者以及艺术家的积极参与。2014《觉》征集活动已经结束，谢谢大家的踊跃报名，我们将为在各个领域最具创意的活动组织者送上现金＋海报设计等福利。获奖名单将于近期公布！如果你参与了征集，请继续关注。
