Like trivia? Here are 6 things you probably didn’t know about The Pains of Being Pure at Heart:
1. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart got their name from the title of an unpublished children’s story written by lead singer Kip Berman’s friend.
2. The band’s gigs in the US and Europe have historically attracted a disproportionate number of skinny dudes in the audience.
3. The first time the group played together was at a birthday party for current keyboard player Peggy Wang. The performance was so successful that the members decided then and there to start the band.
4. For the first 8 months of the band’s existence, before drummer Kurt Feldman formally joined, they used an iPod as a substitute drummer both in rehearsals and on stage (!)
5. Vocalist and keyboard player Peggy’s ideal man? He should have floppy hair, wear soft sweaters, and not have any tattoos.
6. Winston Chmielinski, who painted the cover art for the band’s second LP Belong, spent 4 months studying Chinese at Peking University in 2009. We wonder if he saw any gigs when he was in Beijing…

Split Works is looking for 1-2 dedicated, hard-working, creative and knowledgeable interns in our Beijing office. Interning at Split Works will give you the opportunity to see first-hand how music promotions in China works, and you’ll be able to work closely with both visiting musicians and veteran industry players. You should be able to speak decent Chinese and to commit to interning at least 3 days/week for 3 months. Interested parties should submit a CV and cover letter to jobs@spli-t.com.

1） “The Pains of Being Pure At Heart”的乐队名出自一本未出版的童话作品，是主唱Kip的朋友创作的；
2） 有传闻The Pains of Being Pure At Heart在美国演出时总会吸引很多非常纤瘦的男孩子到场；
3） 乐队第一次正式演出是在一座货仓里，是Peggy的一次生日派对。几个人都觉得演出非常成功和有趣，便决定将乐队继续做下去；
4） 在鼓手Kurt正式加入乐队之前，The Pains of Being Pure At Heart 仅靠iPod排练、演出了，这段过程持续了8个月的时间；
5） 女主唱兼键盘手Peggy Wang的理想型男孩子有着松软头发、身穿柔软毛衣，并且没有纹身;
6）一个无聊的八卦：乐队的专辑封面手绘创作者，年轻的艺术家 Winston Chmielinski 曾在北京大学学习中文。

啥啥啥 （执行主编@《Hit轻音乐》）：《Contender》：不管《Belong》在编曲上多么成熟，在风格上多么与时俱进，他们首张专辑的开篇曲《Contender》依然符合我对The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart的最初认识。
朴九月 （乐评人，百度音乐事业部高级编辑）：《Belong》：伤与痛容易书写但难以忘却，谁都不属于谁，但谁都想要有一个谁。
Noisey（全球新音乐探索平台）：《Young Adult Friction》：这首歌让人感觉自己永远不会变老——或者在变老的过程中也不会感觉到害怕了。
Al Di（演出策划）：我最喜欢的是《Say No To Love》，因为对爱情暂时拒绝说“不”，其实是为了更长久的、更恒远钻石般的、更脚踏实地地把爱说出来！
环山大王（执行主编@土豆网音乐频道）：《Heart In Your Heartbreak》的旋律和编曲我都很喜欢，令人感觉无限青春！
Peggy Dai（市场主管@歌华莱恩）：《Say No To Love》：这个MV里面他们那个亚裔的乐队成员表现实在太棒了，而且她也叫Peggy，哈。有时候对这种比较虐的歌曲很上瘾，青春看上去美好，但实际上非常残酷。
查礼谭（吉他手@21 Grams乐队）：我一直很喜欢这个来自纽约的Shoegazing/NoisePop乐团， 从他们的第一张同名专辑到第二张《Belong》，我觉得他们的进步非常神速，音乐元素也变得更加丰富。如果让我推荐最喜欢的一首歌，那应该是《The Body》。理由很简单，年岁越大越会去爱那些隽永的带有80s Synth-Pop气质的歌曲。
