Split Works Presents:Dan Deacon

Dan Deacon

“If Dan Deacon comes your way, go. If you’re the type of person afraid of being called on or afraid of being a participant, go anyway! It will change your life forever. Oh, and the music is insanely good. It was the best party I’ve ever witnessed, with the best music ever.” – NPR

Dan Deacon hits Chinese streets this December, courtesy of your friends at Split Works. Dan Deacon, the man, the legend, comes to us celebrated for his wild and insanely fun performances, He brings the energy and genius of his genre-bending electronica for a multi-city tour de China. This winter, take a pause from the frigidity of the elements and dance till you wish you hadn’t worn those toasty warm thermals.

Hailing from Baltimore, Dan Deacon is now legendary in grassroots electronic circles. What started as a one-man-danceathon at house parties and small clubs in 2003 has stretched beyond traditional dance music by including numerous other atypical electronica instrumentation: the piano, real drums, glockenspiel amongst others. He brings an intellectual quality to dance music that is refreshing in the era of big beat EDMz.

Proving both his left and right brain are alive and kicking, Dan Deacon has collaborated with a number of great artists along the way including Chester Gwazda and Kate Levitt, plus a debut at Carnegie Hall alongside So Percussion and Matmos. Suddenly, he had grown from a one-man band to being accompanied by a 27-member percussion ensemble. In 2011, Dan also composed the musical score for Francis Ford Coppola’s film, Twixt.

Although he was kept busy as the contemporary classical scene’s newest darling, Deacon managed to squeeze in a full album release, “America” in August 2012. America was recorded using both electric sounds and live recordings and the critics – as well as the public – loved it.

Come have some winter fun with Split Works as we bring Dan Deacon to a city near you!
