Did you miss us?

Remember last year? Sunshine and blue skies watching over our all-grass playpen. 4 stages of amazing music, from the incendiary Young Fathers to the pogo-happy Pennywise. The weirdness of the Garage. The most ultimate of Frisbee. Unicycle riding, poi spinning, great drinks and food. High-fives and hugs.

Today, we’re super buzzed to be able to share the news that Echo Park 2016 will be back for your pleasures (guilty or otherwise), hitting Shanghai on September 16 and 17. Same venue, same rebel spirit. Once again chock-full of great bands, weird art, strange creatures and fun distractions.  We can’t wait to share it with the people we do it all for – you!

Save the date. We’ve got some big surprises in store.

Full event details are at the end of this press release, and the first lineup announcements will drop soon. Follow us online to keep up with news and updates!

So what’s in store?

It’s probably safe to say that our Place Less Ordinary will be a little bit different from the average Chinese festival.

Our lineup, as always, goes deep and wide, with a forensically assembled post-headliner bill in this cruel, headliner world. We’ve got something for everyone at the park – from pop and emo to punk and metal, from shoegaze and hip hop, to the widest selection of electronic goodness this side of Tokyo, plus a liberal sprinkling of the unusual and unexpected. In short, the best of China and the world.

There’s also plenty of action beyond the stages. China’s young and restless, let loose in our two-day wonderland. There’s outsider art, produced live. Installations to excite and (sometimes) provoke. Craft cocktails from the dark side. Objects of wonder and delight.

And let’s not forget food (so much food), sports, games, bad puns, ice cream and a few other surprises that we’re struggling to keep in.

It’s going to be exciting. Emotionally charged. The happiest weekend of the year.

Take in the sights and sounds. The tastes and smells. Lose yourself to the music. Dance. It’s the sound of something extraordinary.

Echo Park is back. September 16-17. We can’t wait to see you again.
